When you think of Amazon, what comes to mind?
Is it the customer-centric focus? The endless stream of products available at your fingertips?
The annual Prime Day sale? Or is it the massive company that is responsible for more than half of all ecommerce sales in the US and has disrupted the retail industry as we know it?
77% of respondents agree that Amazon is the most competitive marketplace for sellers (this number jumps to 85% for sellers who have been selling on the platform for more than 5 years).
65% will continue to sell on Amazon even if they can’t win the Buy Box.

Amazon uses the following descriptions for its two types of seller accounts:
Amazon professional seller account
Professional. A Professional account is best for merchants that expect to regularly sell more than 40 items per month and want to manage multiple listings at once. The cost to sell is $39.99 per month, but there’s no referral fee (8 percent). However, it should be noted that less than 1 percent of sellers sell more than 40 units per month on Amazon, so most individual sellers will not need a professional seller account.
The Professional selling plan offers all necessary services for the most ambitious sellers. The plan provides access to a wide range of tools to grow your business, including inventory management, order processing, and reporting tools. This also includes access to Amazon Marketplace Web Service (Amazon MWS).
The Professional selling plan includes all of the same features as the Individual selling plan
You pay a monthly subscription fee of $39.99 for the Professional selling plan instead of paying a per-item fee for each product you sell on Amazon.
The Professional selling plan offers additional features that are designed to help medium-sized businesses and larger businesses scale their sales on Amazon.
You can manage orders with feeds and reports
The Professional selling plan gives you access to Order Reports that include information on every order placed in your seller account during a given time period. You can use this information to manage your orders more efficiently and make decisions about how you want to fulfill orders
In addition, you can generate feeds for downloading and upload batch files
Amazon Individual seller account
Individual. An Individual account may be a good fit if you’re just starting out or if you only plan on selling a few items per month. The cost to sell is just $0.99 per item, but there’s also a $1.80 referral fee, which is calculated by taking 8 percent of the item price plus shipping charges and applicable closing fees.
