introduction:

This village, home to unexploited nature, offers wonderful weather, luxurious green slopes and clean fresh air. It’s a fine pick for a short weekend ride, as it features rugged cliffs and hilly terrain – a perfect place for high-rise discovery of nature. Formerly called Muranjan, the Fort of Prabalmachi was taken over by the armies of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and renamed it.

History

The Sultanate Bahmani constructed a Prabalgad fort in the north of Konkan to look after the Panvel and Kalyan fortresses. The land was taken over by the Ahmadnagar Sultanate after its disintegration. Sahaji had been coming here with his wife Jijabai and son Shivaji after the fall of the new governors.

Geographically

the plateau between Matheran and Panvel lies on the same name. The Mumbai-Pune Expressway can be easily seen. The rivers ‘Ulhas’ and ‘Gadhi’ flow to the east and west of the fort. It has other strongholds in all directions except eastward. Chanderi and Peb are in the west and Karnala in the north and Manikgad in the south.

ABOUT THE PLACE

The base village for two popular treks, Kalavantin Durg and Prabalgad is situated in the vicinity of Shedung Phata. Prabalmachi Village provides the enthusiast simple camping facilities with a wonderful view. Karnala Fort, Panvel City, Irshalgad, Irshalgad, Prabalmachi Morbe Dam and close by fortresses can be seen. It is a popular destination for trekking near Mumbai Navi. A luxuriant green forest is situated around Prabalmachi and an excellent hiking opportunity. Local residents take better care of their campers by giving cooked homes or tents. You can see fire-flies glowing like fire-flies dancing around the village before the monsoon.

hillock town hosts

This hillock town hosts fantastic weather, lush green slopes and pure fresh air is home to unexploited wildlife.town has rugged cliffs and rolling terrain, a perfect place to experience nature on top. this is  a nice choice for a short weekend getaway. It was formerly called “Muranjan” in Prabalmachi until the armies of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had taken power and renamed it.

Panvel and the Kalyan forts

In order to keep an eye on Panvel and the Kalyan forts in north Konkan, the Bahmani’s sultanate built the Prabalgad fortress. The control of Ahmadnagar Sultanate was gained after its disintegration. Sahaji and his wife Jijabai and son Shivaji moved to this location after the fall of the new rulers.

Prabalgad sits

Prabalgad sits between Matheran and Panvel on the plateau of Prabal and is seen from the Mumbai-Pune expressway. To the east of the fort the Ulhas river flows. To the west is the Gadhi River and the forts of Chanderi and Peb. The River Patalganga is to the south, while Karnala Fort is to the north. To the north.

Kelve Teen

Kelve Teen is a 500m-tall pinnacle on the north edge of the Prabal plateau, also known as Kalavantin or Kalavantinicha sulka. It is situated next to the villages of Machi and Vaijapur.

HOW TO REACH

The picturesque little village of Prabalmachi is situated at 390 meters above sea level, in the hills off the old NH4 (Mumbai – Pune motorway). Take a left on the NH4, on the road to Pune, before the first road toll. Drive to the fortification of Prabalgad. The track is only fit for an SUV and the road ends after a point. You have to park the car and walk to the village about 45 minutes every hour. It’s a fast trek and can be done all by yourself.

base camp

Prabalmachi village is the ‘base camp’ of a walk through the fort Prabalgad (766 m). Many involved should walk up to the fort, which takes approximately an hour plus either direction. On the northern side of the Prabal plateau, a pinnacle of 500 meters is Kalavantin.

Walking down, watch the Paradise Flycatcher Male and Shikra, along with a good village lunch and then a little siesta and then travel to the Morbe Dam to soak the feet in the freshwater. When it springs up, it was time to get back to Mumbai Grind, not before stopping for chai and pakoras in a little tapri store, Jadhav Hotel. The best I’ve got in the last few days. The old NH4 is overall much more stunning and friendly than the Mumbai Pune Expressway.
